Position Overview and Environment: The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is an exciting place to be. This is an opportunity to strategically impact the future of Ohio State through the recruitment, admission and support of outstanding students. The Outreach and Recruitment team is responsible for recruiting prospective students to The Ohio State University Columbus campus.
The admissions counselor reports to the assistant director of Outreach and Recruitment. The individual will be located in the Student Academic Services Building and will work most closely with a team of ten full-time staff members and alongside a broader team of approximately 35. Peak seasons are typically August through May given the cyclical nature of the work supported across Undergraduate Admissions. Work hours are typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but will require early morning, evening or weekend hours at various times during the year given the role's direct work with outreach and recruitment programs.
Detailed Position Description: As a member of Undergraduate Admissions, counsels prospective undergraduate students and their families; manages recruitment territory; assists with territory specific recruitment activities and events; develops and maintains positive relationships with high school counselors and community based organization advisors; travels to high schools and college fairs to represent OSU; possible travel up to 12 weeks a year; conducts large and small-group presentations; counsels prospective students within territory and other undergraduate applicants regarding Ohio State admission policies, procedures and general information; analyzes prospective student data; learns and uses the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA) and other technologies; monitors territory recruitment budget; assists with on campus and off campus recruitment projects; reads applications through our holistic application review process; understands the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests; participates as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through membership on committees, assisting offices during events and other times throughout the year; researches and resolves problems; conducts special projects and other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination education and experience.
