POSITION AND DUTIES The Interim University Communications Manager (UCM) is a four-month temporary position that will provide support during a staff leave. The UCM will help to develop and implement communications strategies and campaigns to increase the visibility of the University and engage with prospective students.
The UCM will:
Research, write, edit, and proof University publications, such as the bi-annual University magazine and monthly e-newsletter
Develop articles or social media posts that spotlight staff, faculty, and students
Manage the University's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media accounts (in collaboration with other University staff). Create and execute social media campaigns and monitor other University-affiliated accounts (e.g. HNU MBA, HNU Music Department, HNU Alumni Association) to ensure brand consistency across all HNU social media.
Provide support with campus photography and videography (Note: events will be limited over the summer).
Using our new Slate CRM tool, draft and configure email communications plans for multiple audience groups in our undergraduate and graduate inquiry pools.
Develop content, design layout, and implement email drip campaigns for multiple audiences (e.g. undergrad, transfer, adult degree completion and grad students) and further segment based on stated major or program interest.
Develop communications plans for each stage of an inquiry's involvement with HNU-inquiry to enrollment-in collaboration with HNU's marketing and admissions teams.
Identify and remediate issues that impede email delivery.
Map out all aspects related to service delivery of our Slate CRM tool, including related databases.
Fully document any new processes.
Maintain HNU communication policies, style guides and standards in all marketing materials.
Jump into HNU's 150th anniversary projects, including content development for our bi-annual magazine and micro-site
Coordinate special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field
Expert level CRM experience (ideally Slate)
Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and social media across platforms
Expert writing skills, including grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation Desired:
Strong knowledge of current affairs and issues in higher education
Experience writing and editing for institutional publications
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This position may require a background screen. We reserve the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of a background screen.
This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications. Hours may occasionally include evenings and weekends.
