Under the general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Events Specialist 3 coordinates outreach activities related to Health Sciences Development and Alumni Relations. This position will independently provide logistical support and organize outreach events, including scheduling, itineraries, budgeting promotion, registration, travel, food/beverage, security, partnering with Development Officers on guest lists and invitations. The position will also create and manage an annual calendar of outreach events.REQUIRED- Experience planning, coordinating, and managing medium to large events.- Thorough knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and public relations, including event design, organization and production.- Skill in effectively meeting budget and time constraints.- Organizational and time-management skills to schedule and coordinate complex events and projects.- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to work successfully with clients to produce high quality events.- Knowledge of principles and practices of volunteer recruitment, supervision, motivation and evaluation.- Knowledge of crowd management, crowd safety protocols, security and emergency procedures related to gatherings.- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. PREFERRED- Bachelor's degree and/or background and working knowledge of Health Sciences Development and Alumni Relations.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS- THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT.- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.- Travel in the Northern California region may be required. Reliable transportation is necessary for off-site events and/or training.- Must be able to work extended or flexible hours as needed to meet deadlines.
