As the Assistant Director of Communications and Media Relations, this position promotes awareness of, support for, and loyalty towards the Kelley School of Business learning, teaching and research activities by generating internal and external communications. This individual is expected to research and write web content, news releases and original in-depth feature stories for internal and external publications as well as maintain contact with academic units and professionals for planning and assisting with communications.
The primary focus for this position would be to direct and create content for the school's multi-channel digital marketing communications primarily as host and producer of the Kelley School of Business ROI podcast. The individual will also track and evaluate podcast performance and make strategic adjustments as necessary. The Assistant Director will also assist with the creation of video stories and content for emerging digital communications.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in journalism, English, public relations or related area, plus 2 years of professional writing for newspapers, magazines, radio or TV or others in the communication industry. Must have the ability to work outside normal business hours and hold a valid driver’s license.
The successful candidate will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and typing, contemporary research skills, ability to collaborate with staff and university-related communities, critical reasoning, ability to demonstrate a high degree of independence and initiative in seeking stories. Ability to work outside normal business hours.
Some experience in higher education.
