Business Development Specialist – NCI Strategy - Orlando
Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Business Development Specialist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

The Business Development Specialist works directly with the Senior Director of Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) as well as the Scientific Director of the FHCI and other members of the Executive team in Research Services to develop and implement planning and business development initiatives that are in harmony with the Institute's strategic plan and priorities. The Business Development Specialist supports efforts of the Senior Director to lead engagements with researchers, physicians, research nurses and other clinical staff members. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Ability to generate secondary market data from databases, websites, reports, financial information
Ability to prepare primary market data from direct discussions, surveys, conference calls, meetings and collaborators
Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams across department lines
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Advanced ability to interact with and influence senior management
Competence in the latest software, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, to organize and integrate organization priorities and deadlines

Ability to develop and initiate, in conjunction with key stakeholders and physicians, strategies for growth and development

Experience with business plan writing and preparation (Preferred)
Experience with focus groups, and preparing analytical market briefs (Preferred)
Knowledge of physician practice operations (Preferred)
Consumer marketing skills (Preferred)
Physician marketing skills (Preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
5 years of experience in strategy/business development, philanthropy, public relations, marketing, sales and/or finance
1-year experience in healthcare strategy and planning, and/or operations
Master's degree in Business or Healthcare Administration (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Liaison – Serves as a liaison between Florida Hospital (FH) and physician investigators and industry/CRO contract partners to facilitate and support the development of clinical trials, translational research, epidemiological studies, consultative services and other contract research related work. Develop, maintain and expand the relationships between FH and pharmaceutical and medical device sponsors, and health/academic partners. Focus on developing the capability for an ‘I-4 Clinical Research Network’ across multiple sites with the objective to open multi-state trials with sponsors. Work with site Directors at Orlando, Altamonte, Celebration, Kissimmee and other clinical research locations. Work with laboratory managers at FHCI (Orlando, Celebration, Kissimmee and other locations) and Translational Research Institute (TRI).
Proposal Development – Evaluate multi-site contract research opportunities. Support proposal development and budgeting. Develop and maintain the quality control process for study selection, protocol preparation, protocol review, contact execution and study maintenance. Work with the Office of Sponsored Programs to support study budgeting. Assist in developing and refining business plans, including strategic opportunities. Develop and assist in conducting partner and sponsor presentations. Support the Senior Director and the contracts team throughout the contract negotiation cycle as needed.
Market Research - Participate in analyzing and reporting on market trends, and competitor reviews. Make use of available databases, market research reports, company information and presentations, conference material, as well as primary research (face to face meetings and group interview).
Contact Database - Manage, develop and report from a research contact database. Obtain contact information and relevant opportunity assessment for medical and scientific liaisons, clinical and translational research contacts, collaborators and consultants. Organize, maintain, and develop a network contact database of sponsors and partners.
Change Management – Coordinate and/or support planning and change management necessary for accelerating business development growth in research. Develops and fosters relationships with participating clinical sites necessary to grow business opportunities with sponsors. Work with industry partners to secure information and with sites addressing new opportunities and/or barriers to entry. Conduct primary and secondary market research relating to market size, feasibility, interest surveys and enrollment projections.
Leadership Reports and Trend Analysis – Regularly reviews market dynamics and trends and reports to Senior Leadership. Conducts in-depth research to identify new growth opportunities and create business development plans to achieve or exceed target goals. Supports the creation of tools, presentations, systems, methods and materials to effectuate efficient communication and streamlined operational processes. Collects, synthesizes and reports key performance indicators (KPIs), and other data and metrics; proactively identifies issues to ensure timelines and deliverables are met. Promotes research business development and operations at meetings and educational conferences pertinent to public relations and future business development. Stays current on activities within the competitive landscape, clinical research network models, informatics support platforms and other related business innovations. Shares information and insight with colleagues as appropriate.
Strategic and Tactical Projects – Executes other strategic and tactical projects based on priorities outlined by the Senior Director and/or VP.
