The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and performing a variety of accounting duties associated with the timely and accurate preparation and reporting of financial data, in accordance with applicable accounting, industry, regulatory and institutional principles and policies. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc. Regularly uses computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Job Requirements: SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. At least five (5) years of accounting experience in higher education or a related field. Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures in a non-profit, government, higher education or similar setting. Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the College with a strong understanding and respect for the goals of college activities. Ability to recognize College-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to establish positive public relations, and to interact effectively with a wide variety of people. Working knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment including the use of computers. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and automated financial systems. Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities. Skills/Experience/Training Preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Access and Banner ERP systems. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Knowledge of Massachusetts state and college accounting practices. Bilingual skills. Additional Information: This is a full-time non-unit administrative position under the Non-Unit Personnel Policies Handbook. Salary Range: $53,000 to $62,700 Actual salary dependent on education and experience. Grade: 5 Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, Location: Bedford campus with occasional travel to the Lowell campus and to off-campus sites.
