Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Coach, Women’s Swimming, for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Under the direct supervision of the co-head coaches, the incumbent in this position assists in the coordination of the Women’s Swimming intercollegiate athletic program, which provides an opportunity for student-athletes to train and compete on a competitive, Division I women’s swimming program while attending school to earn a college degree.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Assists in establishing and maintaining a highly competitive intercollegiate women's swimming team within the Big Ten and the NCAA.
Recruits highly academically and athletically skilled female students to attend Rutgers to earn a degree and to compete in the women's swimming program.
Assists co-head coaches with organizing and executing practices and competitions at a high level of efficiency and success.
Assists in developing, teaching and instructing the student-athletes in the proper rules of competition, conditioning, skills and techniques on the deck and in life skills and leadership qualities on and off the deck.
Assists in fundraising and public relation events that support the objective of the program and allow for program enhancements.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of NCAA regulations relative to proper rules of competition in the sport of swimming
Good organization skills
Ability to communicate with student-athletes and the media
Computer literacy, especially with email, editing equipment and recruiting database software
USA club swimming or collegiate swimming coaching and competition experience
Knowledge of Big Ten Conference and NCAA regulations
