The Social Media Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations to develop and execute a comprehensive social strategy across all of Robert Morris University’s primary social properties.
Day to day maintenance of all primary University social properties including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn. Day to day maintenance will include content development, live event coverage, scheduled posting, and interaction with key audiences including prospective students, parents, alumni, corporate partners, and regional influencers.
Collaborate with other key divisions including the Office of the President, Advancement, Athletics, Alumni Relations, Corporate Relations, and the RMU Center for Veterans and Military Families to maintain consistent branding across auxiliary social media properties. Assist those units in developing content strategies and calendars, share best practices, and using primary University social properties, paid advertising and other tactics to amplify messages that can help advance the University’s strategic priorities.
Work with key stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive social strategy across all RMU primary social properties.
Maintain sophisticated analytics and reporting of all social activities with a focus on deriving actionable insights from available data.
Stay ahead of key trends in social media and continuously share and apply best practices. Will also have the opportunity to train, mentor, and manage student workers and other employees as RMU’s social presence grows.
Performs all other duties as assigned. Must also be available by phone and email after typical business hours and must be on call during weekend and evening hours for events and in the event of a crisis.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Advertising or related field is required.
2 or more years of professional experience in brand social media management is required.
3-5 years of related professional experience is preferred.
Demonstrated technical and creative skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of major social media and digital advertising platforms.
Ability to work collaboratively in a large organization with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize social media activities to meet University strategic objectives.
Willingness to assist staff and faculty and have a customer-focused orientation.
Ability to train and mentor student workers and other employees in social strategy tactics and best practices.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
