The Branding & Marketing Director reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs and Marketing and functions with a high degree of autonomy. The Director will manage the functional areas of brand management, marketing communications and outreach, market research, graphic design and institutional publications, organizing work in those units to achieve broadly stated goals. Incumbent also manages agency of record relationship, all aspects of positioning and promoting UC Davis Health and its sub-entities with strategic branding and marketing programs and communications.REQUIRED- Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field required.- Relevant experience in health care marketing and market analysis;.- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of the health system and campus, including its achievements, mission, goals, vision, infrastructure and products and services.- Thorough knowledge of current and emerging marketing trends and best practices, including new and emerging strategies and technologies such as expanded use of internet and web resources. Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, tools and techniques.- Excellent skills in strategic planning and market planning, effectively organizing resources and setting and establishing priorities.- Excellent skills in managing staff including selection, training, evaluating and mentoring staff at all levels, including skill to take disciplinary action as necessary. - Proven ability to effectively lead and manage diverse teams of individuals.- Excellent interpersonal communication and political acumen skills and advanced skill to represent the health system with other institutional and/or external constituencies. - Excellent written communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively and persuasively across multiple media and to multiple diverse audiences. - Excellent market research, analytical skills; thorough knowledge of current and emerging market research tools and techniques. - Excellent problem recognition, avoidance and resolutions skills.- Excellent skills to produce results and achieve predetermined goals within budget and time constraints.-Through knowledge of applicable state and federal laws regarding marketing, advertising and other related policies or laws. - Ability to comply and enforce related campus and health system policies.PREFERRED- Minimum five years' experience in a management position- Advanced degree in Marketing - Experience in an academic medicine environmentSPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
