The Assistant Director of Development & Alumni Relations will support a comprehensive fundraising and alumni program for Midwestern University with a special emphasis on corporate and foundation giving. The Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations will report directly to the University's Director of Institutional Advancement and will supervise the Downers Grove, IL staff for the Office of Development & Alumni Relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Successfully secure major gifts from corporations and foundations to support scholarships, event sponsorships and community partnerships
Manage development & alumni relations staff and volunteers
Develop and manage annual operating plans and budgets
Collaborate with Deans and Program Directors to engage and solicit potential donors
Establish and oversee a stewardship plan for all University donors
Supervise alumni engagement activities including alumni associations
10-15% travel will be required
This position will be responsible for supervising the following staff: Manager of Development, Manager of Alumni Relations, Development Data Specialist, and Administrative Assistant.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a fundraising position, preferably for a higher education institution. An individual who has attained the CFRE designation (or equivalent) will be given preference. The ability to build positive rapport with many groups of internal and external stakeholders is required to be successful in this position. 1-2 years of supervisory experience and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are also required. The individual must also have a high level of professionalism in interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
Additional experience is preferred in the areas of higher education, alumni relations, fund-raising, community relations, and public relations.
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access). Jenzabar or CARS experience preferred.
