Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Development Specialist I for Mason Gross School of the Arts. Reporting to the associate dean for development (ADD), the incumbent in this position identifies and researches gift prospects and/or funding sources, conducting analysis of net worth, determining funding levels, and constructing a donor profile.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Coordinates thematic design and logistics for development events.
Manages development operations, the development office's production schedule and budget, acknowledges donors, and processes gifts and account paperwork.
Creates gift reports, accounting records, statistics, and other informational materials for development office, financial aid, accounting, and other departments.
Provides Mason Gross units with guidance and informational support surrounding pertinent activities or initiatives.
Coordinates donor initiated programs and ensures that donor specifications are met.
Works independently under broad instruction from ADD to cultivate grants, corporate sponsorships, and crowd funding campaigns.
Performs professional work that requires knowledge of prospect research, event implementation, and donor cultivation, and a good understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of development.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates general knowledge, skill, and understanding of customer service/public relations, event execution, office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report-writing
Two years’ relevant experience in a promotions/event planning, volunteer, public relations, fundraising or marketing function
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills and writing skills
Computer literacy, including with industry-standard software, Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint), database design, web navigation and basic design, and email
Development experience at educational institutions or any non-profit organizations.
Familiarity with following university applications and/or databases: RIAS, Signals, Advance/RADAR
A writing sample will be requested for any applicants interviewed.
