Job Summary/Basic Function:
The brand and communications manager is responsible for food service marketing, community outreach, communications, and brand-building. Develops brand concepts and marketing action plans that address communication with customers, outreach to various campus community members, and clearly publicizes products, services, and events. Monitors competitive environment, consumer insights and trends, and organizational performance incorporating those factors in the development of branding and marketing plans that align organizational strategy with plans for growth and community relationships, i.e. Dickinson students, faculty, staff, and Carlisle. The position requires a great deal of effort communicating with others and executing a variety of communications strategies with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential duties include:
Provides recommendations for branding direction then develops and executes brand marketing programs for approved strategies. Establishes and maintains a consistent organizational image throughout all product lines, promotional materials and events. Assesses and develops brand names to differentiate and maximize visibility of products.
Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market conditions, anticipate marketing trends and translates consumer attitudes and expectations into new branding directions. Conducts marketing surveys on current and new product concepts and provides feedback for future product development
Plans, oversees, and personally executes communication and outreach efforts; and advertising and promotion activities including web site updates, event calendars, blogs, counter cards, line menus, and other signs in varied print, electronic, and social media formats. Oversees the development and production of promotional materials. Directs cross-functional teams in the development of promotional programs, pricing, positioning, packaging and product features
Coordinates efforts to create NACUFS contest submissions, trade journal submissions, and other relevant news or media outlets.
Synthesizes information from social media, customer feedback forums, surveys, and other relevant sources to determine information and communication needs for customers. Participates as an adviser to the Food Advisory Council as part of this effort. Uses data-driven decision-making to plan and execute strategies that affect improved communication and outreach; uses social media, local information books, signs, and other media relevant to the varied constituencies to do so.
Establishes short and long range strategic marketing plans that support the sales and revenue objectives of the department. Coordinates and aligns brand strategy with departmental and college marketing plans.
Develops and manages marketing budgets for Dining Services. Ensures effective control of marketing results and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives fall within designated budgets.
Communicates brand strategies to marketing, finance, and other departments. Serves as liaison with internal and external organizations for communications, outreach, advertising, and marketing.

Bachelor’s degree in Communication with 3-5 years of related experience. Background work in social media/public relations and marketing may be substituted for education. Media design, food photography and video editing experience preferred.
