The mission of the Office of University Communications is to expand global understanding of Stanford's contributions as one of the world's leading research universities, where innovative, world-changing research and teaching occur daily. University Communications provides support and campus leadership in planning, coordination and implementing strategic communication programs that support Stanford University and its teaching, research and service missions. University Communications is the central office responsible for supporting executive leadership; university-wide issues and reputation management; crisis communications; oversight of digital content and top-level web and social media platforms; media relations and news services; visual identity and brand management; internal communication to faculty and staff; parent and community communications programs; major publications; and the Stanford Video production studio. University Communications coordinates with communications professionals across the university on communications issues and projects, provides leadership to the Communications Working Group, and advises on communications policy.
The Office of University Communications is now accepting applications for an Audience Engagement & Digital Content Editor on its digital media team. We are seeking an inquisitive, insightful and creative communicator, journalist, or social media expert who is passionate about audience development. The audience growth editor will lead efforts to extend our editorial content and grow our audience, spanning social media, paid promotion, digital analytics, content partnerships, institutional advocates, and more. The growth editor will craft unique story angles built to travel across the social web and identify the right metrics to measure success, refining strategies based on lessons learned. The role offers an exciting opportunity to play a high-impact role in advocating for one of the world's finest research and teaching institutions.
Identify the ideal time to launch, resurface, and repackage Stanford content on social media.
Monitor, spark, and participate in online conversations that are valuable to Stanford.
Build relationships, online and offline, with external and internal audiences to spur advocacy and content partnerships.
Monitor web analytics to understand and act on audience interest and reactions.
Formulate, execute, and analyze paid social media campaigns.
Study audience and platform trends to get ahead of what is next.
Create and deliver special audiovisual edits of existing news and messaging content for social media.
Responsible for management of digital channels and/or web properties. Play a lead role developing editorial strategy and voice (of the content through the channels).
Partner with internal stakeholders such as program teams, service teams, IT, campus partners to achieve program goals and to ensure coordination.
May hire, coach and manage interns and consultants.
