Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Human Resources Generalist will manage all aspects of ongoing HR activities including benefits administration, workforce planning and recruitment, on and off boarding, compensation, employee and labor relations, regulatory compliance, training, and employee HR policy communications. Under the general, technical, and administrative supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for:
Successfully manage and coordinate all benefit programs (Health, Dental, Vision, Section 125, 403(b) Retirement Plan, 457 Plan, STD, LTD, Life/AD&D, Workers Compensation, and COBRA) for employees, including employee communication, change reporting, payroll deductions, billing, problem solving and claims resolution
Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans
Ensure all plans comply with applicable laws and statutes (HIPPA, ERISA and IRS guidelines)
Manage annual open enrollment for Health, Dental and Section 125 Plans
Workforce Planning and Recruitment
Manage recruitment lifecycle, posting jobs, ensuring employment applications and files are complete
Conduct background checks, coordinate offer letters with the head of schools office
Coordinate and implement on-boarding and off-boarding
Conduct new hire orientations during new faculty trainings prior to the start of the academic year and throughout the year as needed
Administer Protecting Children: Identifying and Reporting Misconduct and other trainings for all employees and facilitates or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce
Update job descriptions and complete periodic job description audit and reclassify employees as appropriate under the Fair Labor Standards Act
Manage employee separation process for both voluntary/involuntary terminations
Maintains employee personnel files and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies
Compensation and Payroll
Participate in annual salary planning process for faculty including maintenance of Faculty salary compensation bands
Participate in annual salary planning process for non-faculty
Ensure salary changes are processed accurately
Complete EEO, compensation and benefit surveys
Run semi-monthly payroll when payroll administrator is not available
Ensure compliance with federal and state statutes/laws such as FMLA, ADA, Sexual Harassment, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, Title VII, and ERISA
Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action. Counsel employees regarding disciplinary problems and provide mediation when necessary
Processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
Maintains working relationship with union officials and adheres to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions
Maintain employee handbooks and recommend changes to CFO
5 years of broad-based HR experience
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources or Organizational Development or related field; SHRM-CP (or similar) preferred or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of employment
Proficiency with Excel, Word and ADP Workforce Now (or similar)
Exceptional communication and problem solving skills
Demonstrated track record as a human resources professional with expertise in relationship management with staff and colleagues, and excellent management and organizational skills
Ability to maintain the highest degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy; must be able to work collaboratively and build relationships throughout the School; and must be committed to the mission of the School
Demonstrated knowledge of employment regulations and best practices
