AAdvantage, Inc., parent company to subsidiaries AAdvantage Foundation, Arc of Washington County and Arc Human Services, is looking for a Director of Development to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for leading all aspects of planning, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive development program including, grants, major gifts, annual fund, direct mail, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Director of Development works closely with the Executive team and the Board of Directors in all development and fund raising endeavors.
PROSPECTING AND CAMPAIGNS
Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for new and previously identified foundation prospects
Plan and implement all development activities concerning identified prospects—i.e., cultivation and solicitation efforts, preparation of proposals, coordination of executive visits with prospective donors, etc.
Participate actively in the identification of funding opportunities provided by private foundations to bring key, high priority initiatives to the attention of administrators and other leaders.
Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information with the community.
Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
Direct an annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
Maintain gift recognition programs.
Work closely with the CEO, CAO and agency Directors to execute fund development goals, programs and plans, including creating an annual grant strategy and researching funding sources that match specific projects and programs
Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements. Write and develop grant proposals and supply post-award reports to grantors as required.
FUNDRAISING & SPECIAL EVENTS:
Manage and provide staff support for annual and special fundraising events and activities, including provide marketing materials, images and follow up information to participants and internal departments
Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff/committees
Develop and execute strategies for successful events within budget.
Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
Generate traffic and interest in the organization through timing and execution of events.
Coordinate production and mailings of all fundraising appeals, annual reports and other donor correspondence..
MEDIA & MARKETING
Manage advertising, public relations and marketing, including collateral materials related to fund development, donor recruitment and community awareness, including:
Managing the company’s digital strategy through social media (posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, etc.)
Maintaining the AHS website by updating areas such as client stories, press releases, news and events
Administering the company’s media presence in print, radio, TV
Providing the monthly e-newsletter with news, events, client and staff stories, etc.
Attend and provide staff support to quarterly Board of Director’s meetings.
Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
Perform other related duties as requested
KNOWLEDGE OF DEVELOPMENT PRINCIPLES, FUNDRAISING STRATEGIES AND ETHICS
Demonstrates experience in effectively managing, coaching and supporting development staff and volunteer “face-to-face” solicitors;
Experience managing capital campaigns;
Experience planning major donor cultivation events preferred;
Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or a combination of education and applicable work experience, required.
Five years’ successful experience in non-profit fundraising, with a proven track record of cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CFRE Certification a plus
PA State Criminal Background, Child Abuse and FBI Clearances.
