Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Edit/Media Specialist II. Reports to the Associate Director of Enterprise Systems. The Edit/Media Specialist II: -Collaborates with faculty, staff, Marketing & Communications, content strategists, web and design teams to produce videos for academic programs and online course projects in support of the School's mission and goals. -Responsible for conveying and elevating the RBS brand through visual storytelling using an array of video, photography, audio, and editing techniques. -Produces ambitious compositions with a keen eye for capturing/realizing compelling stories. -Responsible for shooting, delivering, and archiving high-quality content for the School's online learning programs, internal communications and external broadcast communications. This could include productions on and off the college campus. -Must have a creative eye and expert knowledge in composition, exposure, and depth of field, as well as in the operation and set up of all equipment, including microphones, lights, and cameras needed for recording sit-down style interviews. -Must also be able to shoot for continuity-style editing and obtain b-roll appropriate to a subject. -Manages multiple tasks under pressure, have the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, and must be capable of working well independently, as well as in a collaborative setting. -Produces assign and self-initiate videos that showcase Rutgers online courses, activities, and people to a diverse audience through the Rutgers Business School (RBS) website and other channels. -Projects will include original video content to increase visibility and advance the mission of the School as well as archival audio and video recordings, and webcasts. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, formatting, editing, proofreading, publishing, promotional advertising, organization, coordination, and/or facilitation. Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in an editorial function, good communication skills, and computer literacy to include industry standard software.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A Bachelor's degree in videography, photography, photojournalism or related field to include five to ten years of professional experience in video and/or photo production; or equivalent combination of education and related experience. - Must have substantial job experience as a video editor with a clear and lively visual storytelling style; top line editing skills; excellent communications skills; computer literacy; and experience developing web content that easily integrates with other websites and social media platforms. - Expert knowledge of Premier, AfterEffects, Audition, Pluralize, Photoshop, studio console function & lighting, and social media concepts. Experience with various software required for color correction, on-screen graphics and production of final media using a variety of codecs. - Excellent organizational skills and trouble-shooting capabilities; strong attention to detail; and the ability to respond well to deadlines and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be familiar with web communications and be able to convey intended messages accurately and succinctly both through editorial and visual mechanisms. - The ability to work both as a team member and independently. Some supervision of student technical staff. - Thorough understanding of high-end cameras and camera settings, shutter speeds, apertures, lens types, filters, and effects. - Advanced knowledge of the principles involved in recording clear audio under different conditions. - Strong time management skills and ability to focus on multiple projects while completing high-quality work against strict and conflicting deadlines. - The ability to exercise sound judgment, problem solve and develop sound solutions through innovative techniques and best practices is required. Demonstrated confidence to make decisions while on location and on behalf of clients. - Solid customer service experience and the ability to work with all types of personalities in a sometimes high-pressure environment are required. - Ability to operate one or more cameras as part of a single- or multi-camera shoots. - Ability to work and travel, sometimes on weekends and evenings.
- Experience shooting video on Canon, Sony, or Panasonic 4k video cameras. - Experience with the Sony FS7, Canon C100 and C300 is desirable. - Experience recording content for online learning coursework. - Experience with Learning Management Systems and digital asset workflows.
- High-end video cameras, video studio console, studio lighting, storyboarding software. - MacPro non-linear editing systems with multiple monitor setups. - High performance storage arrays for live editing and archiving purposes.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift 50lbs or above.
