As part of a team, collaborates with Major Gifts' frontline fundraisers to conduct intensive writing, research, data analysis and project coordination for the Major Gifts department within the Office of Development.
Drafts a wide variety of written materials, including comprehensive individual prospects briefing, gift indentures, extensive proposals, stewardship reports and internal and external correspondence that conforms to the style and voice of the sender. Conducts research on individuals, corporations, foundations and institutions using office files, databases and internet search engines and resources. Investigates the history, status and accuracy of recorded gift commitments and gift acknowledgments as needed by gift officers and other university officials. As requested, ensures the accuracy of information communicated to donors and prospects by the Office of Major Gifts. Works directly with gift officers, other development staff and donors in resolving fund and reporting issues and special gift handling requirements. Designs, develops and produces ad hoc reports and analyses through complex queries and intricate report manipulation, utilizing our primary Blackbaud alumni database (Hopper). Builds strong relationships with staff and other Yale departments to coordinate briefings and proposals and to plan events. Serves as a key contact on questions relating to various departmental needs. As an integral member of a team, coordinates high level special events across the country, including donor-hosted events and celebrations of special initiatives, to ensure timely and successful completion of the proceedings. Drafts invitation and confirmation cards, compiles and maintains lists using complex queries, extends invitations, confirms attendance, ensures attendance accuracy, prepares biographies and talking points for guest speakers and drafts event flow documents. Manages stewardship functions to ensure that donors receive ongoing communication regarding the benefits of their gifts to Yale. Interacts with donors at the request of director and/or gift officers in response to inquiries. Proactively serves as the primary point of contact for high level prospects not assigned to Major Gift officers.

Required Skill/ability 1: Exceptional communication skills with special emphasis on advanced writing ability and editing. Ability to communicate effectively with top-level donors and senior Yale administrators. Writing sample requested at time of interview.
Required Skill/ability 2: Demonstrated organizational and research abilities with strong attention to detail including analyzing large volumes of information from disparate sources and synthesizing it in a cogent and concise form.
Required Skill/ability 3: Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, database software and reporting, and the ability to conduct data analysis and work with financial information. Knowledge of PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
Required Skill/ability 4: Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in time-constrained environment. Ability to initiate and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Experience in a university setting or with development work, advanced degree, familiarity with Yale.
Required Licenses Or Certifications:
Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level and a high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
