â‹Reporting to the AVP, the Director implements comprehensive strategies to identify cultivate and solicit the highest capacity individuals. Builds engagement of these individuals with the Humanities and refines gift opportunities based on Humanities priorities. Determines appropriate recognition and stewardship plans for significant donors.
Shape and grow the Divisionâ™s leadership annual giving, major gifts and principal gifts programs according to best practices in collaboration with the Dean of the Division and the AVP.
Coordinate all activity related to seeking philanthropic support for the Division of the Humanities, working closely with gift officers University-wide to monitor and facilitate growth of the Divisionâ™s prospect pool.
Develop and manage a personal pipeline of $100K+ solicitations while closing $1M+ gifts to the Humanities Division. Manage a select portfolio of 50-120 high-level prospects. Plan and execute a target of 24+ solicitations per year.
Manage a major gifts officer focused on prospects with the capacity and inclination for gifts of $100K+, as well as an assistant director managing stewardship and internal processes.
Travel with and regularly staff the Dean of the Division in her work with high-capacity individual prospects. Develop support for a range of key priority areas, which may include graduate student aid and research support.
Hire, manage, evaluate and develop staff as needed and as assigned. Actively encourage staff members' professional growth and participation in the life of the University.
Monitor and manage an annual budget. Address budget variances as they occur.
Perform other duties as assigned. Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.

Strong verbal and writing skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organizational skills required.
Education & Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree or higher required
A minimum of five years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience required.
A minimum of three years of soliciting and closing major gifts experience required.
A minimum of three years of leading a project team or managing staff required.
Demonstrated record of organizing successful fundraising, marketing or membership programs required.
Demonstrated success of meeting or exceeding goals required.
Expertise managing a complex prospect and donor pipeline required.
Experience working with volunteers required.
A minimum of one year of experience developing and monitoring budgets preferred.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including Griffin (the University's Donor Relationship Management System), a Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access required.
Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends required.
Willingness and ability to travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
