The Director of Strategic Initiatives reports to the Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships and is responsible for leading the overall design, development, and implementation of the University's strategic direction for the newly formed Office of Global Partnerships. The director will partner with other key stakeholders across the university at all levels to ensure the successful launch of the University's campus in China and is the primary point-of-contact between the SVP Global and other university offices, departments, schools and external partners for all global partnerships. The Director will be the primary contact for consultants and vendors, setting the objectives, negotiating vendor contracts, overseeing and evaluating deliverables on projects.
The incumbent is responsible for all of the following, in coordination with the SVP Global Partnerships:
Direct the work of the The New School China Working Group, aligning strategic efforts with the Assistant Dean of Academic Partnerships and school based global partners and faculty.
Build systems and processes to streamline the operations of the Office of Global Partnerships
Design new internal communication methods and processes to maximize awareness of strategic efforts and plans around Global Partnerships and with other university partners and stakeholders.
Oversee short- and long-term budgets, including ROI and the allocation of financial resources for Global projects; develop and communicate budget-related processes to ensure fiscal responsibility and adherence to university policy
Direct the feasibility phase of the China campus ensuring effective launch
Align strategic efforts with the Director of Academic Partnerships and school based global partners to advance the Shenzhen Project
Shepard and align the requirements of the MOE with the Shenzhen campus to ensure a successful application
Short term – Planning Phase Budget development and allocation
Long term – Parsons Shenzhen Budget development
Negotiate and manage external consultant and vendor contracts and vet potential new consultants and vendors for legal services, market research, etc.
Develop and evaluate reports on global efforts for internal and external audiences including budget and ROI.
Act as point person for all on-campus and off-campus engagements with global partners and potential global partners
Bachelor's degree/Master's preferred in Business, Communication or related discipline
Strong experience in project management, including experience with budget development and management.
Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate and execute deliverables across complex organizations with multiple constituencies and audiences.
Strong technological proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Knowledge of educational technology platforms
Multicultural sensibility and a deep understanding of cultural sensitivities is essential. Fluency in other languages preferred, Mandarin a plus.
Collaborative and collegial orientation with strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
