The Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs at Rutgers-Camden is the applied research arm of Rutgers in Camden, and our research is centered in population health, criminal justice and public safety, and organizational and community development. We seek an experienced individual to manage multi-method projects. This position requires good interpersonal skills, experience with data management and human subjects research. The employee with work collaboratively with other staff and report to the co-Directors of the Institute. The position does not require significant content knowledge in each of these areas, but the employee should have good management skills and a working knowledge of research methods in the social sciences.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in public policy, planning, psychology, social work, sociology, urban studies or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires coursework and demonstrated proficiency in research methods (quantitative and qualitative); experience conducting and managing research, applying basic research principles, managing data, writing research or policy reports, and coordinating work of a research team; experience in public speaking and visual presentations and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, and to track multiple projects simultaneously.
A graduate degree in the social sciences is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with the following software packages is desired: Qualtrics, SPSS/Matlab/Stata, Microsoft Office, Filemaker Pro.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Stakeholder communication requires that employee must be able to travel throughout southern New Jersey.
Salary: Starting salary will be based on pre-determined department budget.
