TheNational Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a strong Senior Director, Advocacy Initiatives to provide strategic direction and manage key public affairs initiatives for the association in partnership with member and other affiliated groups. This position is responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with executives and providing direction and support for programs which enhance advocacy efforts.

Drive advocacy and public affairs initiatives on key issue campaigns.
Manage a wide range of programs to mobilize the NAM members with the association’s advocacy efforts, including coordinating coalition meetings and joint letter initiatives.
Develop and maintain the association’s relationships with non-traditional allies and partners, as well as non-CMA business community partners.
Manage communications and events for DC-based member company personnel and provide staff support to a new Advocacy Advisory Group.
Work with larger member companies to leverage their in-house member engagement programs and outreach to supplier and customer networks.
Manage advocacy leadership academies to assist the Association’s members in developing and implementing tactics to engage their employees.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferably with a political science or public policy emphasis
7 to 10 years of association experience, corporate government affairs, political campaign, or Capitol Hill experience
Strong written, computer, and organizational/time management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to be a team member and team leader
Excellent ability to build relationships
Strong understanding of the executive branch and legislative process
Professional public speaking ability
Previous event planning/management experience, including strategic planning, content development, and logistics
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced, quality and goal driven work environment
