The Vice President of Finance (VPF) will be responsible for all financial accounting and reporting activities, along with cash management, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
This position will report directly to the President of Impact Justice. VPF will support the President in presenting financial compliance, forecasts and performance to the Board of Directors. The VPF will also consult with the Chief Financial Strategist, a consultant retained by Impact Justice. In addition, the VPF is supported by a Director of Finance and a financial team.
With the support of the finance team, monitor and supervise all activities within Finance and Accounting.
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, accounting and reporting systems ensuring compliance with US GAAP and nonprofit regulatory requirements.
Continuously improve controls, systems, policies and procedures around accounting system, including federal compliance program for budgeting, operation, and billing of federally-funded programs.
Manage the work of the finance staff who will perform a number of basic accounting functions such as AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations etc.
Monitor and operate internal controls and processes that safeguard the assets of IJ and ensure appropriate validity of transactions for revenue, costs and program budgets.
Manage the provision of audit requirements (across Finance and Programming.)
Manage the annual budgeting and financial planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain and correct variances as appropriate.
Prepare for the Board's Audit and Finance Committees and participate in those meeting
Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting
Manage cash management needs.
Support, and train, Program Directors and other staff about financial processes.
Assist wherever possible in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization.
Ensure that vendor contracts are filed and recorded (available for the budget process).
Manage the semi-monthly payroll.
Assist the President and HR Director in developing salary structures and related processes.
Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and city regulations.
May be required to assist with other projects or duties as assigned.

SUGGESTED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with strong Accounting concentration or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Knowledge of US non-profit GAAP and finance, accounting, budget and cost-control principles.
Experience with government contracting, as well as federal government compliance processes.
Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
Experience managing a staff of finance and accounting professionals
Experience working with senior business or program partners in defining financial goals, budgets Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the:
development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting strongly preferred.
Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and accounting software packages.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
