The Law School Office of External Affairs is seeking a full-time Development Associate to contribute to a variety of essential projects to support alumni, donor and volunteer initiatives and provide general administrative support for the External Affairs team. The Development Associate collaborates with colleagues to execute programs focusing on increasing participation, revenue and engagement from alumni. Provide excellent customer service and problem solving for alumni and donors including: answering phone lines, responding to email, and handling gift and registration inquiries. Initiate, compose, and edit correspondence while using discretion and judgment with confidential information. Respond to inquiries from within the department, campus community, and external constituency, always protecting the confidentiality of alumni/donor information. Develop a network of professional contacts and provide advisory assistance to other offices that seek it.
Support team on event planning and execution, including Reunion Weekend. Work with vendors and venues, collaborate with campus colleagues and volunteers, staff events, and assist with preparation. Prepare, proof, and coordinate various communications (print, online, email) to promote programs and engage alumni. Administer post-event surveys, collect responses and analyze results, and perform administrative tasks as required.
Serve as a 'power user' and in-house expert for Griffin, the University's Donor Relationship Management System, with a special emphasis on extracting and analyzing data as well as maintaining constituent records. Update constituent records on an ongoing basis and as necessary to ensure accurate information. Learn best practices for using the system and teach team members how to accomplish tasks in Griffin. Actively support creating and managing URM and prospect data.
Serve as a â˜power userâ™ and in-house expert for email deployment platform. Coordinate email communications, including the design, drafting and deployment of event invitations, newsletters, stewardship materials, and/or email solicitations. Prepare the necessary registration materials and regularly maintain registration data for a variety of events and volunteer opportunities. Maintain and develop content for the alumni relations and development pages on the web site.
Manage Class Notes for the alumni magazine. Oversee project schedule, serve as staff liaison to alumni volunteer correspondents, collect and edit submissions, and liaise with departmental partners.
Demonstrate and model the level of teamwork expected of all Law School employees by 1) assisting fellow colleagues when his/her supervisor deems it possible and necessary; and 2) staffing Law School events including Reunion Weekend as requested by his/her peers or supervisor.
Complete expense reports and handle expense reconciliation utilizing appropriate data system.
Act as liaison with facilities, building maintenance and IT to ensure all requests are responded to promptly. Help maintain the general office environment including maintenance and repair of office equipment, ordering supplies, maintaining common workspaces, etc. Maintain thorough knowledge of University priorities and programs. Understand team strategy and administrative processes to manage volunteers and resources effectively.

Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal work of the Law School and the University as well as the technology tools available through the University Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including Griffin (the University's Donor Relationship Management System), Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access required.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher required.
A minimum of one year of work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, or similar work required.
Experience with fundraising, contact management or other database software preferred.
Experience working with volunteers preferred.
Experience planning and executing events preferred.
