The Tippie College's Assistant Director of Alumni Relations will develop, implement and evaluate strategies to engage alumni in the life of the college for their and the university's benefit. This person will be responsible for building relationships, coordinating events, and communicating to the college's more than 50,000 living alumni. This person will work closely with current student leaders, alumni in key geographic locations/companies, various alumni and advisory boards, and university administrators. Responsibilities will require some travel and time outside the 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work day.
Message Development and Implementation
Develop and implement a communications plan for reaching out to students and alumni utilizing diferent media.
Manage alumni web pages and registration forms devoted to alumni relations and alumni events.
Provide background information on attendees to the dean, development officers, and director of external relations.
Promote alumni activities to the college's large alumni base.
Present information on alumni programming to alumni, students, faculty, and staff.
Encourage alumni engagement in many ways through involvement, financial support, networking, mentoring, recruiting students, and placing graduates.
Become proficient in the use of the university's alumni database, most notably in the area of pulling lists for events, mailings, and communications.
Update alumni information in the database using appropriate channels.
Utilize LinkedIn as a resource for alumni information.
Manage the college's tippie-alumni email address and all web pages devoted to alumni relations.
Manage the application process for the Young Alumni Board.
Manage registration websites as needed.
Develop a strategic plan for alumni engagement and growth of the Tippie alumni program and evaluate its effectiveness on a yearly basis.
Utilize surveys and other analytics to measure the effectiveness of our programs.
Assist in the annual budget process by developing budgets for the events, promotion, and general operations of the alumni office.
Coordinate contract agreements between vendors and the UI purchasing office.
Maintain fiscal responsibility to keep operations within budget and follow UI regulations.
Coordinate activities of the college's Young Alumni Board (YAB) and assist with the operations of the Vaughan Institute of Risk Management and Insurance Young Alumni Board.
Oversee and supervise the work of students and/or volunteers.
Delegate and manage tasks to staff within the Tippie Dean's Office.
