Health Sciences Development (HSD) provides leadership, support, and coordination in generating and sustaining philanthropic funding to UC Davis Health System's teaching, research, clinical, and public service fundraising priorities. Under direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Development and Alumni Relations, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences Development works to attract significant private support for UC Davis Health System and UC Davis priorities through the design and implementation of a strategic and effective program. Identifies new donor prospects through researching background information; developing donor strategies, materials and proposals; assists with organizing related programs/events; identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donor prospects. Following a donor-centered approach to fundraising, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences Development manages a large and complex fundraising program within context of overall fundraising efforts at UC Davis Health System through a professional staff, including both fundraising and non-fundraising professionals as well as related administrative support staff. The Assistant Vice Chancellor will be instrumental in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for increasing philanthropic support. Serves as an expert or lead development professional in philanthropy in an environment that includes, or potentially includes, donors capable of making very significant contributions to the campus, including principal and transformative gifts. The position maintains a portfolio of donor prospects that includes influential, complex and highest rated donors, and has authority to make commitments and precedent-setting decisions regarding program design, development, and procedures under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor. Incumbent manages a staff of development professionals and support personnel. The Assistant Vice Chancellor works in close collaboration with the Associate Vice Chancellor of HSD to assist in setting annual fundraising goals and objectives, evaluate outcomes, and ensure all aspects of department operations and HSD programs are consistent with the policies and principles of the University of California and UC Davis University Development.REQUIREMENTS'The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred) with at least 10 years of senior management experience in the healthcare field. Experience in an academic health system is preferred.
