The Office of Enrollment Services and Admissions, College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Michigan State University, invites applications from outstanding individuals for the position of Recruitment and Admissions Officer. This position is responsible for implementing admissions activities including providing information about the CVM. Additionally, this position provides an opportunity for coordination of recruitment, admissions, and scholarship in the Office of Enrollment Services and Admissions under the responsibility of the Assistant Dean of Admissions, Scholarships, Diversity and Inclusion. The successful candidate will coordinate day-to-day activities in support of recruitment, admissions, and scholarships. Recruitment responsibilities include support with reaching enrollment goals and managing the Enrollment Management Platform; identifying and planning recruitment activities in Michigan, and when needed, out of state; participation in high school visits, college fairs, career nights, on-site admissions days, public outreach events and general monthly information sessions; and coordinating and implementing programs for potential students regarding College policy and programs of study. Scholarship responsibilities include coordinating scholarship awards pre-packaging pre-enrollment and during the academic year for current students; analyzing student financial and demographic need; and working closely with the Office of Financial Aid. Admissions responsibilities include providing support in all aspects of the admissions process; reviewing applications and conducting quality control of science course requirements; working closely with Enrollment Services Operations Manager and Assistant Dean in creating candidate interview schedule and providing support at interviewers' training; collecting incoming class deposit and working closely with MSU finance; managing all aspects of the Student Ambassador Program; and participation in all meetings of the Committee on Student Admissions.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in admissions, public relations, student services or related area, including implementing programs and schedules, making formal presentations, and working with the public; experience with database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and/or presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid vehicle operator's license is required to perform the recruitment duties of the position.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work as a team, which is driven to success; knowledge of enrollment services and admissions and scholarship programs; ability to be creative and innovative; proficient with technology; evidence of experience with and appreciation for diversity and inclusion.
