The Director of Communications is the thought leader for communications and responsible for ensuring the excellence of all internal and external communication, marketing, fundraising, and public relations efforts. The Communications Director will be a proactive and strategic partner for the administration, faculty, staff, and board.
Develop, implement, facilitate, and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations program working at both strategic and tactical levels.
Effectively enable volunteers and staff to articulate the School’s success stories and value, vision and direction to both internal and external audiences.
Oversee the editorial direction, design, and production of all content, with a goal of creating dynamic, engaging materials across channels and constituencies that accurately reflect the key values of ECFS.
Support a client service ethos in the Advancement Office, offering proactive and strategic communications support and leadership to ECFS offices throughout the institution.
Represent the School effectively with stakeholders, outside agencies, the media, and other constituencies.
Plan and execute media strategy in order to raise the profile of the institution and the Head of School.
Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills.
Commitment to and appreciation for the mission and ethos of the institution.
An understanding of marketing, communication, advertising, and public relations principles and an ability to apply them to convey the essence of a specific organization.
Deep understanding of technology and how to use it to increase the efficiency of the communications infrastructure.
Ability to communicate effectively, diplomatically, and with confidence when interacting with parents, Board members, staff, vendors, and other constituents.
Discretion and the highest level of confidentiality.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines.
The ability to prioritize projects that have the greatest impact while keeping longer-range projects moving forward.
Initiative, problem solving skills, attention to detail, and a “can-do” spirit.
Familiarity with existing and emerging social media platforms and with approaches to integrating multimedia and the web.
Bachelor’s degree with relevant graduate degree preferred. Must have exceptional writing skills.
