The Assistant Director of Donor Relations Stewardship and Events will represent University Advancement and Ohio University at functions and meetings of internal and/or external groups; respond to donor inquires; assist with the management of donor recognition programs and events; plan and manage special events including those related to donor recognition, foundation board, gift club(s) and/or campaign events. This individual provides a variety of support to the overall Stewardship function of Donor Relations. This individual is in routine contact with donors which provides important customer service to ensure and maintain the connection between the donor(s) and the University, which directly contributes to donor retention efforts. Further, this individual provides assistance with all areas of donor relations activities including direct responsibility for a variety of communication tools including, but not limited to, oversight and revision of leadership acknowledgment correspondence, crafting of unique donor relations stories to showcase donors and the impact of private philanthropy, and maintain consistent communication and contact with donors on behalf of the University.
Donor Relations Events: Assist with the planning and coordination of special events being managed by the Office of Donor Relations. 1.Event tasks include, but not limited to: planning and conducting site visits, menu planning, décor needs, research and reserving alternate event locations and activities, arranging transportation. 2.Collaborate with athletics, alumni, development, and various other university departments and colleges to create event programing. 3.Events include: donor recognition events, campaign events, home and away athletic events, including the President's Box during football season and other athletic events as appropriate, events affiliated with the meetings of the Ohio University Foundation Board of Trustees. (30 % of Time) Stewardship & Customer Service: 1.Oversee the process and development of acknowledgment letters and correspondence to major donors on behalf of the President, Vice President for Advancement, Senior Director of Donor Relations and Associate Directors of Donor Relations. 2.Coordinate sympathy, thinking of you and congratulatory correspondence and gifts on behalf of the university and university leadership. 3.Prepare giving summaries for donors and development officers on a needed basis. 4.Collaborate with Advancement Services Operations and Prospect Research and Management to ensure accurate donor and gift information is up to date within the database. 5.Collaborate with Advancement Communications & Marketing to develop and design various marketing and communication materials. 6.Oversee ordering, preparing, distribution and tracking of gift items/presents given to donors. (30 % of Time) Special Media Projects: Assist in the coordination and implementation of Stewardship Communication which includes various communication projects designed to engage donors and highlight the impact of private philanthropy on the University. 1.Develop impact giving stories for primarily online publication. 2.Assist with Donor Relations projects that enhance the department's web presence. 3.Assist with production of Donor Recognition video and photography projects. 4.Develop Donor Relations' social media as an engagement tool. (15% of Time) Other Donor Relations Support and General Requirements: 1.Assist in providing supervision, day-to-day training, mentorship, and direction to student staff members. 2.Perform other related duties as required or as directed. 3.The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position (a.k.a. all other duties as assigned). (15% of Time)
Position requires availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Public Relations, Sports Administration, Event Management, or a related field required.
At least two (2) years of experience in Donor Relations with an emphasis on event planning, stewardship responsibilities, and high end engagement.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business, or a similar field.
Higher Ed experience in University Advancement.
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to lift heavy items.
