UW Medicine Pathology brings together state-of-the-art technology and highly trained personnel, including nationally and internationally recognized faculty to provide comprehensive diagnostic and personalized service to physicians, community hospitals, independent laboratories, and other health care organizations. We combine sophisticated testing and informatics capabilities of fully accredited laboratories with the resources of an academic and teaching institution in its delivery of pathology services.
The Department of Pathology currently has an outstanding opportunity for a RESEARCH SCIENTIST ENGINEER 3.
The job responsibilities for this position include developing validated multi-color flow cytometry for defining product specifications, optimizing cell production process, writing and following SOPs, tech transfer to a GLP test facility, and characterizing test material for preclinical \ clinical studies.
The Research Scientist will work both independently and collaboratively with the cell processing group and other research scientists in UW Medicine to develop and implement methods for cardiomyocyte characterization. This is a full-time professional staff position, reporting to the Team Leader of Cell Processing.
Under the general guidance of the Team Leader, this position will be required to work independently to reach established milestones and goals. This position will also be expected to work collaboratively with fellow research personnel, monitor the work of both peer and junior staff, and redirect efforts to achieve task/project objectives or enhance the quality off the project when necessary. This position will also be responsible for leading and managing the technical transfer to GLP contract research organizations managing the project and budget.
This position will also be expected to contribute to any reports, articles, and publications related to the lab's research. A successful candidate will be comfortable leading presentations, tours, and demos either independently or as a croup. The work of this position is expected to assist in the retention of current lab funding as well as assist in obtaining additional funding.
Bachelor's in Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering or Chemical Engineering And Three to five years' experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry;
Significant expertise in multi-color, intracellular and surface marker flow cytometry;
Strong communication and organizational skills, and significant expertise in developing and implementing multi-color, intracellular and surface marker flow
Cytometry with prior experience in assay transfer to a GLP flow cytometry laboratory.
Five or more years' experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry;
Experience with IND/BLA preparation, GMP manufacturing, Stem Cell culture, or GLP/Tox are preferred.
