The Florence Symphony Orchestra’s Board of Directors is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director of the Florence (S.C.) Symphony Orchestra. The position is a full-time post with flexible hours. Ideal candidates should have experience with the arts and/or non-profit organizations and a good track record in administration, budget management, event planning, public relations, marketing and fundraising. Computer proficiency, website publishing, social media and other related skills are a plus. Direct experience with a symphony, and/or musical abilities is preferred. Candidates from both inside and outside the Florence/Pee Dee area are sought, but a working knowledge of the area and its people would be beneficial.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Florence Symphony Orchestra Executive Director is responsible for managing the human and financial resources of the FSO in order to achieve the orchestra’s mission. To that end, the Executive Director is responsible and accountable for all aspects of the organization, and for implementing the policies set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors through the Board Chair.

Qualifications and Skills
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related and appropriate discipline
Ability to prepare, maintain and understand budgetary information
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Individual initiative, as well as strong detail orientation with ability to organize and prioritize job duties
Ability to work well with people in a stressful environment with multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions
Computer proficiency and in-depth experience in working with computer software programs pertinent to budgetary data and design
The mission of the Florence Symphony Orchestra is to entertain, to educate and to broaden the cultural horizons of the citizens of Florence and the surrounding area of the Pee Dee. Founded in 1949, the FSO is the second oldest continuously operating symphony in the state of South Carolina. The FSO is celebrating its 69th season as a community-based orchestra comprised of approximately 60 local mu...sicians from the greater Pee Dee region and supported by imported featured musicians from across the southeast. The FSO’s 2017-2018 program marks the 7th season of the FSO being housed in the state of the art, Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center.
