Pleasanton RAGE, an all-girls soccer club, based in Pleasanton, CA, is seeking a well-qualified candidate for the position of General Manager (“GM”), to serve as the managerial lead of the soccer club (a non-profit organization). The GM reports to the volunteer Board of Directors through its elected President. The GM will have overall responsibility for club operations, strategic planning, budgeting, human resources and the “customer experience." The position does not include soccer curriculum or coach/player development which is the responsibility of the full-time Director of Coaching. The club Director of Coaching (DoC) and Club Administrator reports to the GM. A small full-time coaching staff and 30+ part-time coaches report to the DoC and ultimately, the GM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors in regular meetings
Establish and meet long and short range objectives for the Club. Lead development and execution of a strategic plan.
Prepare and justify a Club budget; control Club expenditures.
Establish policy, procedures and guidelines for staff operations
In collaboration with the Director of Coaching, hire, lead, manage, and develop staff
Lead and work with the Director of Coaching, who is responsible for coaching operations for the Recreational and Competitive programs of the Club.
Support the Director of Coaching in his/her direction of the competitive program, including hiring and management of staff and coaches.
Plan and coordinate club sponsored and managed tournaments during the calendar year and several clinic/camp programs
Conduct and oversee fundraising efforts to support Club initiatives
Direct acquisition and improvement of facilities in conjunction with the City of Pleasanton
Oversee all marketing, communication, and branding strategies
Develop a program of public relations, and cooperation with city agencies, corporate partners, news organizations and the community at-large
Interact with club members and grow membership ranks
Expand programs and drive new revenue sources (futsal, tournaments, etc.)
Direct leadership and other specialized programs to drive the club’s mission
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of all phases of Soccer Club administration; considerable knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management; ability to plan, organize, and direct comprehensive programs in a successful soccer organization; ability to cooperate with and interpret Club philosophies to local government entities, public and private groups, other agencies and the general public; ability to develop and maintain high morale and enthusiasm within the organization; an ability to lead with good judgment; a proven ability to develop and execute new initiatives; and an intense focus on the customer experience.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree, preferred, most preferable in sports management, business or a related field and 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience, preferably in soccer club management in a supervisory capacity; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A NSCAA coaching diploma in not required.
