Welcome to the online home for the great City of Lewisville, Texas!
On behalf of the 100,000 people who call Lewisville their home, I want to welcome you to our city. Lewisville is proud of its rural Texas heritage. The first settlers came to this area before the Civil War, and some of their first buildings were churches and schools because they weren't building a place to live for the short ...term, they were building a home for generations.
The same pioneer spirit and family values thrive today in Lewisville, a place where families enjoy a high quality of life and business is booming. Lewisville is a vibrant and growing community of the 21st century, with major employers and thriving retail outlets that combine to create a strong economic framework for our residents and a quality family-friendly experience for our visitors.
Lewisville has many opportunities that make this such a great place to live, work and play. Many of those are detailed in the comprehensive Lewisville 2025 vision plan that was developed by residents and then adopted by City Council in July 2014.
Enjoying and protecting our natural environment is important to Lewisville. With more than 2,000 acres of public parks, plus 2,000 acres of urban wilderness at LLELA Nature Preserve, there are nearly endless options for outdoor recreation. Lewisville Lake draws more than 3 million visitors each year for active and passive enjoyment of its cooling waters and tree-lined shores. Keep Lewisville Beautiful gives residents and businesses a chance to actively help protect our environment and its natural beauty. Click here to see the many outdoor options available to you.
Lewisville residents and visitors are able to take advantage year-round of some of the finest cultural opportunities in North Texas, including more than a dozen fine and performing arts groups. There's always something happening at the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, our 40,000-square-foot arts center that opened in 2011. And with so many businesses in town, along with many nationally known corporate names, attractive employment opportunities abound.
Our city is a fun, safe and nurturing place to live for families with young children, young professionals charting their life path, seniors entering their golden years, or anyone else seeking urban convenience in a relaxed suburban setting. High-performing schools, scores of volunteer opportunities, spirit-filled churches and a thriving economy mean nearly any need can be met right here in Lewisville.
As a lifelong Lewisville resident, a graduate of Lewisville High School and the son of a former Lewisville ISD educator, my roots in Southern Denton County run deep. But the city's roots are even deeper. Physical evidence of our rich history dots the Lewisville landscape today, and the community's frontier heritage lives on in a strong sense of optimism and neighborliness found in the hearts of our people.
