The Associate Dean for Admissions, reporting to the Dean, is the chief admissions officer for the Law School and serves as an ambassador to our incoming students. The Associate Dean for Admissions profoundly affects the Law School's educational mission by providing leadership in the recruitment, selection and enrollment of extraordinary students. The job requires a varied skillset. The Associate Dean for Admissions manages the Admissions and Financial Aid departments. Working closely with faculty, students, the Director of Admissions and the Director of Financial Aid, the Associate Dean develops recruitment strategies and goals, establishes admission requirements and standards, and develops and plans programs with the Admissions team to recruit and enroll students who embody the diversity and excellence long associated with the Law School. This is a professional position that requires extensive travel as well as weekend and evening hours.
Develop annual admissions plan for the J.D. program. Oversee admissions processes and procedures. Devise admissions policies in conjunction with the Dean, faculty and senior administrators.
Deep engagement with evaluation and selection of students for admission, including through reading/reviewing applications for admission.
Analyze and report on admissions statistics throughout admissions cycle and in annual reports to the administration and faculty.
Counsel prospective applicants regarding admissions requirements, application processes, and preparations for legal study.
Oversee the review of applicant files.
Plan and direct recruitment networks by creatively and effectively coordinating the School's current students, faculty, staff and alumni to assist in recruitment efforts.
Oversee recruitment events and programming for admitted students.
Create and implement a data-driven marketing, communications, and recruitment strategy that promotes Yale Law School's J.D. program to a broad and diverse applicant pool through a variety of channels and events.
Directly supervise the Director of Admissions and Director of Financial Aid.
Provide direction to the Financial Aid Department on scholarship and loan strategy; serve on committees as necessary.
