Summary of Duties: This position supports the mission of the Division of Student Affairs by providing marketing and communication services that ensure future students, current students, faculty/staff, and the WSU community are aware of opportunities that augment the academic experience. This position coordinates the day-to-day marketing and communication operations, develops and implements annual marketing plans and builds collaborative working relationships with departments within the Division of Student Affairs. This position has responsibility for .5 FTE staff who are involved in marketing and promotional activities.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Develop strategic annual or semester marketing and communications plans for individual departments (e.g. Center for Civic Engagement, Women's Resource Center, Student Involvement, Dining Services, Housing, Services, Compton Union, University Recreation, Greek Life, Multicultural Student Services, Health & Wellness Services) to assist the Division of Student Affairs, and departments within the Division, in reaching their goals.
Coordinates and implements day-to-day marketing and communication efforts.
Develops and executes print and paperless advertising to target market, utilize and coordinate digital media including web, video, social media, email communication.
Create organic written content to be used across various platforms.
Develops communication strategies including personal selling and presentations, direct mail, public relations, special promotions, outreach and event planning.
Oversee design of websites that meet accessibility standards, upkeep websites using content management system. Collaborate with web coordinators on web design, usability, and analytics.
Continuously update and protect brand guidelines for WSU, Student Affairs and departments.
Responsible for monitoring metrics and using this data in decision-making.
Collaborate in a team environment with in-house graphic designers, videographers, website coordinators, communication strategists, and marketing coordinator colleagues.
Personnel management & mentorship
Fiscal Management for advertising, promotions staff wages, and reconciliations.
Required Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field and three (3) years of professional level experience in marketing, promotional or related work. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
