The University of Pittsburgh's Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) Department is seeking an Executive Communications Specialist. This senior-level technical communications position reports to the University's CIO and will be responsible for the executive-level communications of information technology services. The person in this position will develop communications materials, presentations, and strategic marketing materials. This position works closely with the CIO to design, develop, and distribute these materials internally and externally.
This position requires excellent planning, strong writing, and editing skills. The incumbent must be detail-oriented and creative when presenting technical information. He/she must possess the initiative to work independently and must be able to effectively interact with CSSD management and staff. The ability to handle multiple projects and priorities and react to immediate problems and tight deadlines is essential. The incumbent's work originates from the CIO. The incumbent drafts, prioritizes, and plans tasks associated with the publicity of various CSSD initiatives. Complete accuracy in writing and consistently meeting deadlines are critical to this position.
The candidate should have at least six (6) years of relevant experience that includes advanced-level strategic communications as well as the planning and management of multiple projects. The incumbent must be a seasoned strategic thinker and writer. It is important for the candidate to have experience in understanding information systems, analysis, and development in the IT sector that translates into the ability to accurately interpret and represent information technology products, systems, and policies. The candidate must also possess excellent leadership skills and have a demonstrated track record of achieving stated goals. Understanding how to communicate in a University environment is key.
