Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director assists in managing the MBA/EMBA admission process that meets targeted enrollment goals and enrolls a high-quality, diverse student body that enhances the reputation of the Columbia Business School.
The Associate Director will assist with executing strategies that drive application growth for the Business School. This individual will manage events and activities that build brand awareness, working closely with faculty, alumni, students and staff. The ideal candidate must have the ability to handle detailed work as well as be team focused, research oriented, and works well in a fast paced environment.
1.Serve as a member of the Admission Committee to evaluate and recommend applicants: duties will include reading and evaluating applications and conducting interviews. 2.Develop, manage, promote and market the MBA/EMBA programs: duties will include planning and delivering on and off-campus presentations, conducting corporate visits, hosting receptions, and participating in other recruitment activities as determined by supervisor. 3.Manage and coordinate pipeline events and activity that builds brand awareness with undergraduate students. Helps identify compelling messages that effectively convey the MBA value proposition to millennial audiences and the appropriate content delivery platform. 4.Conduct competitive analyses to identify cost effective new opportunities and potential best practices that can help drive application growth. 5.Coordinate and manage events for special populations, such as women, under-represented minorities, international applicants, alumni, admitted applicants, etc. 6.Cultivate and maintain relationships with faculty, administrators, current students, alumni and solicit their participation in said events. Duties may include managing and planning events for select populations (Hermes, alumni interviewers, etc.) 7.Coordinate and manage communication with Business School departments (Publications, Public Relations, and Computing and Information Services): duties may include activities related to advertising, publications, website, content management, PowerPoint presentation, etc. 8.Manage application processing which includes, coordinating and scheduling interviews, verification of credentials of admitted candidates, responding to inquiries, assigning and managing application reviews. 9.Performs other relevant duties as needed and assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent degree required. A minimum of 3-5 years related experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must have demonstrated strong verbal communications skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of constituents including senior alumni and senior hiring managers. Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and computer skills required (proficiency with MS Office Suite). Ability to travel (domestic and international) and work evenings and weekends required. Candidate must possess strong skills in diplomacy, tact, and discretion. The ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple responsibilities is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity and experience in social media marketing is a plus.
