Potomac State College, a location of the West Virginia University system of campuses, is seeking applications for a Social Media Specialist. This position will produce high-quality social media posts and data-driven campaigns to support College-wide and unit-specific goals. This will include managing several platforms and audiences, such as prospective and current students, faculty and staff, alumni, parents, donors, and community members.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Post and manage engagement on Potomac State's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube on a daily basis.
Develop and execute data-driven social media campaigns and advertisements.
Research and implement ways to build the College's visibility and reputation through innovative use of social media platforms.
Capture photo and video as needed, and work with professional photographers, videographers, and designers as appropriate for development of high-quality visual content.
Oversee a robust group of social media ambassadors, building a network of students, faculty and staff to contribute content to various platforms.
Monitor current trends in marketing and social media, making suggestions on how Potomac State can innovate and evolve via social media platforms.
Serve as a resource for social media managers across campus, providing advice and expectations.
Coordinate crisis communication efforts on social media, such as weather alerts and emergency announcements.
Maintain daily messages on the College's electronic Information Stations.
Assist with writing web content, internal communications, press releases, and advertisements as needed.
Work Hours: Vary; must be willing to work outside the traditional work week when necessary

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, multimedia or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
At least two (2) years of combined experience in the following is required:
Social media management
Writing and editing
Photography and videography
Familiarity with AP Style and the College's social media guidelines and personality
Ability to use relevant software, including content management systems, media monitoring systems, archival programs, and editing software
Cover letter, resume, and three professional references
