Moveable Feast, a 501 c 3 nonprofit agency providing nutritious home-delivered meals to more than 3,200 individuals/year living with life threatening illnesses seeks temporary part time Events & Social Media Specialist (November 2017 through May 2018) to assists Development team carry out fundraising objectives; specifically, coordinating the Ride for the Feast’s event, social media & website.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Assist in the coordination of Moveable Feast’s signature fundraising event – Ride for the Feast (2-day/140 mile bike ride): a.Recruit riders & volunteers; b.Staff committee meetings; c.Provide logistical details; d.Coordinate bike route, permit applications, staff patterns for the Ride; & e.Communicate with Riders & volunteers. 2.Oversee event budgets & purchase order processes for Ride for the Feast, with assistance from the Events & Social Media Manager. 3.Coordinate third party fundraising events sponsored on behalf of Moveable Feast, with assistance from the Events & Social Media Manager. 4.Work with Volunteer Services to recruit, engage & cultivate volunteers for Ride for the Feast & third party fundraising events. 5.Manage event related participant & financial reports, with assistance from the Events & Social Media Manager. 6.Sustain Moveable Feast’s Ride for the Feast website: a.Help Riders set-up personal pages on Ride website; & b.Troubleshoot event participant questions related to website functions. 7.Manage Moveable Feast’s website, with support from the Events & Social Media Manager. 8.Manage Moveable Feast’s social media sites; Facebook, Twitter & Instagram: a.Create content & scheduling of posts; b.Utilize social media analytics to drive scheduling & content creation; & c.Work with social media third party management company on content creation & scheduling, as needed.
Salary/Benefits: $15.00 pr hr
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public relations, communications or related field preferred, but not required. Must possess a minimum of 1-3 years in event planning & development. Available to work 5-6 hours a day/4-5 days a week starting November 2017 through May 2018.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Knowledge of special event planning, customer service, website management & donor recruitment & retention. Skilled in fundraising events, corporate & business solicitations & relations; computer programs: Blackbaud, DonorPro, & Constant Contact, preferred but not required. Excellent writing & oral skills. Able to handle multiple tasks & deadlines simultaneously; gather data, compile information & prepare reports; use independent judgement & manage & impart confidential information; read & comprehend simple instructions; write simple correspondence; effectively present information to individuals & groups; apply common sense understanding; carry out instructions furnishes in written, oral or diagram form; interact with a diverse staff & client population; move freely; & lift up to 25 lbs.

Originally a Baltimore-city-community-based organization, Moveable Feast quickly spread in the early 1990’s to other surrounding jurisdictions to provide services to people with HIV/AIDS, starting in Baltimore County, and soon thereafter expanding services to Howard, Harford, Anne Arundel, and Carroll counties. In 1998, Governor Parris Glendening awarded Moveable Feast a State grant to provide meals to people with HIV/AIDS on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Today, Moveable Feast serves 14 of the 24 counties in Maryland.
Moveable Feast is the only provider of medically tailored meals – free of charge- for people with serious illnesses. Our Board is adamant that this service be made available to individuals who are most in need, especially in those jurisdictions where there are limited or no other home delivered meal services available. No one should have to make the choice between paying an electric bill, or buying medication, over eating healthy during their illness. Moveable Feast is here to make sure no one as to make that choice!
