Will provide administrative and clerical support to the Music/Political Science Department Chairs, faculty, and students.
Work with Chairpersons in preparing academic program documents, and catalogs.
Preparing social media blasts for Department events.
Prepare programs, design graphics for flyers & mailers, tickets for Department concerts, and work with University Press; secure venues for Department concerts & events.
Handle direct Department mass mailings for concerts, workshops, prospective students, and applied faculty. Keep mailing lists up to date and accurate.
Perform general office work (e.g. typing, scanning/document imaging, answering phones and questions, filing).
Coordinate student workers to maintain and catalog the Music Library.
Request and coordinate the appropriate venues and logistics for Department concerts & events.
Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
Understanding of academic procedures including faculty, students, course offerings, and schedules.
Good working knowledge of office policies, procedures, and practices.
Intermediate to advanced level of working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign software applications, as well as sufficient working knowledge of other software applications, as needed (e.g. PowerPoint).
Experience with web design.
Abilities and Skills:
This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize while multi tasking, communications skills and an enthusiasm for both departments.
Excellent written communication and verbal skills. (Essential!)
Ability to do complete office and clerical work with speed and accuracy.
Effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.

Editing correspondence, announcements, ads, articles, web site.
Knowledge of formatting documents for print and web.
Experience designing graphics for mailers, event promotion.
Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
Good public relations and negotiation skills.
Ability to commute to Chalon campus (near Brentwood) 5 days a week.
Ability to make a commitment to the organization for a minimum of one year, even while taking on other work opportunities that may be needed.
Bachelor's degree required.
A minimum of 2-3 years as office assistant, working in a public relations/school service environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Intermediate experience with with graphics involving desktop programs In Design, Adobe Illustrator, & Adobe Photoshop.
Commitment to the job for at least 12-18 months.
