The UC San Diego Health Regional Burn Center, an American Burn Association verified Burn Center, provides comprehensive burn services for San Diego and Imperial Counties, and is internationally recognized for burn research and advanced practice. The Center has an ICU, an intermediate unit, and a 24-hour clinic. As the only Burn Center in the region, we provide education and training to first responders and healthcare professionals. The Burn Center also hosts burn support services and activities for burn survivors and their families. Each year, our team treats approximately 450 patients, including infants and children, and hundreds more as outpatients in the burn clinics.
The Burn Program Manager is responsible and accountable for providing administrative and clinical leadership. Develops standards of care coordination that demonstrates success in: promoting high quality, cost effective delivery of care; ensuring effective utilization of resources across the continuum; excellent customer service; and compliance with regulatory and internal UCSD requirements. Spearheads innovative projects and approaches involving multi-disciplinary factions for systems improvement that affects patient outcomes across the organization. Plans, schedules and organizes work for departments ensuring proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space and facilities.
The Burn Program Manager supervises staff, screens candidates, interviews and hires new employees. Ensures staff competence, compliance with staff licensure/certification requirements and maintenance of related documentation. Conducts performance appraisals, counsels staff, and takes disciplinary action as required in consultation with Human Resources/Labor Relations. Ensures compliance with discipline-related action plans. Develops/integrates annual operational, capital and personnel budget for each cost center with the Department of Finance.
The Burn Program Manager assures compliance. Evaluates data from monthly audit and burn registry data bank for problem identification of burn system.

Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
Minimum three (3) years of RN experience in Burn, ER and/or trauma.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have decision making, problem solving and prioritizing skills. Must have knowledge of financial, public relations, strategic planning and healthcare policies experience.
1-3 years or more recent experience as a Burn Program Manager, Assistant Burn Program Manager, or Burn Program Coordinator.
Academic Institution or large integrated health system experience.
Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance experience.
Knowledge of data collection.
Nursing Administration Certification.
Marketing and Fundraising experience.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
