The Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial operations and integrity of UCHealth. As a member of the executive leadership team the CFO plays a critical role in developing and implementing UCHealth's financial strategy as well as providing tactical input to senior management, the President & CEO, and the Board. The CFO's primary responsibilities include treasury, accounting & reporting, financial systems, revenue cycle management, financial planning & analysis, investments, managed health resources, operational & capital budgeting, M&A, governmental reimbursement, and government relations. Additionally, this position serves as the primary liaison for the Board of Commissioners on financial matters.
Goals and Objectives
Serves as the senior financial leader in the organization, maintaining a trusted and close relationship with the President & CEO, acting as a top advisor, business partner and confidant.
Participates in development of the strategic priorities for UC Health and oversees development of the supporting financial strategy creating timely, accurate, and transparent analysis enabling effective performance management and achievement of strategic goals.
In collaboration with the leadership team develops and implements the annual capital and operating budgets and strategic planning initiatives for UCHealth.
Provides the stewardship and leadership necessary for UCHealth to meet its financial targets including developing ambitious revenue cycle targets and operational alignment to enhance and continue the financial well-being of the system.
Identifies and assesses new strategic business and revenue generation opportunities, including the consideration of any key risks/challenges.
Structures, negotiates, and oversees the analysis for major business transactions related to acquisitions, strategic initiatives, partnerships, ventures, and contractual commitments.
Provides financial expertise in joint operating and affiliation agreements.
Partners with executive leadership in presenting to the Board on issues of financial strategies, planning and forecasting.
Establishes strong relationships with credit rating agencies, financial institutions, investment advisors and external auditors.
Drives alignment of resource allocation, financial goals, and financial reporting processes with UCHealth's overall strategy, business model, and risk management.
Leads talent management and workforce planning for the finance organization.
Provides ongoing feedback to the team to ensure they develop the skills and competencies required for individual professional and personal career growth, and succession planning within the finance organization.
Motivates and inspires the team by providing them with the information and tools they need to do their jobs well and meet team and organizational expectations.
Works closely with the Finance and Budget, Audit and Compliance, and Investment Committees; serves as the key staff person to those Board level committees and ensuring that timely, accurate and complete financial information and reports are disseminated to the Board of Directors and required outside agencies.
Fosters and reinforces collaborative and collegial relationships and work environment.
Serves as UCHealth's representative to professional, civic and community organizations.
Continues to make finance "customer service oriented" to progress the operational areas of the network, where the interaction between finance and operations is collegial and "can-do" in nature.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and a Master's degree are required.
At least fifteen years' senior financial leadership experience in a hospital system, large hospital, or integrated delivery system, with at least five years of senior leadership experience in an academic medical center.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge and understanding of finance in healthcare, and proven expertise in managing fiscally sound, profitable, efficient and responsible operations for an enterprise.
He/she will have knowledge of budgeting and forecasting methodologies, and be skilled at creating and implementing new and innovative solutions for complex and varying problems and situations.
He/she must appreciate and have proven financial leadership experience with both hospitals and employed and affiliated multi-specialty medical groups and how they come together as a cohesive entity.
A strong understanding of the laws, regulations and compliance issues that govern physician groups and hospitals is essential.
Successful candidates must possess the agility and skills to work within a growing health system in a constantly changing environment and a track record of executing strategies and processes that support contemporary models in healthcare.
Experience with both healthcare delivery and insurance would be valuable.
