Reporting to the Director of Digital Services, the Internal Communications Coordinator is an integral part of the Office of Marketing & Communications and is responsible for creating, coordinating, and planning communications and outreach efforts designed to inform on- campus constituencies, including students, faculty, and staff.
Day-to-day editorial responsibility for management of internal web portal’s start page (myCharger).
Write, edit, and curate all content for faculty, staff and student-facing myCharger start page
Develop an editorial calendar for internal communications on myCharger
Assist in editing content for accuracy, copy, and style, and assist in publishing content to myCharger
Create and maintain a style guide and set guidelines for materials posted on myCharger
Serve as editor for weekly e-newsletter digest of important external campus news, events, announcements, and feature stories; coordinate subscription list for e-newsletter
Serve as the point person for creating and disseminating news and information via TV screens located around campus
Publish information about important information or upcoming deadlines in closed student groups on Facebook
Overall responsibility for maintenance and accuracy of University public events calendar: Create, coordinate, curate, and publish content to the University calendar and collaborate with colleagues curating information for external-facing calendar
Oversee coordination of forms for collecting information/RSVPs for on-campus events
Collaborate with Center for Student Engagement, Leadership, and Orientation for materials cross-posted in Charger Connection, a password protected community for student news
Collaborate with various offices across campus to create internal calendar events and notices
Serve as the point person in the Office of Marketing and Communications for academic colleges that produce internal e-newsletters
Recommend updates and improvements to portal and subpages
Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously on deadline
Ability to work in both independent and collaborative settings
Ability to effectively engage diverse perspectives and experiences in work product and in organizational interactions, including communication and decision-making
Knowledge of and understanding of how to use social media tools to produce and highlight content, grow audience, build community, and extend brand promotion.
Strong technical knowledge and aptitude, plus a willingness to learn new technologies to adapt to changing internal communications needs. Anticipated software use includes Photoshop, InDesign, PowerPoint and web content management systems. Knowledge of enterprise systems, CRMs, HTML, coding, and web technologies is helpful, but not required.
Experience working in a content management system is a plus
