The Senior Writer / Editor leverages writing expertise, business acumen and interpersonal skills to write and deliver communications that drive audience engagement and are integrated with the business strategies and objectives for UnitedHealthcare Global. This role reports to the VP of communications for UnitedHealthcare Global. This position requires a strategic thinker with experience working in a matrixed organization. This role requires expert writing skills, and the ability to develop relationships with teams and leaders throughout the company. Responsibilities include: researching topics and writing communications for senior leadership and working with teams throughout the organization. Primary Responsibilities:
Develop communications which maintain consistent quality, tone, voice and style for a broad range of internal audiences
Distribute employee communications through standard vehicles
Support employee meetings with content, creative and technical support
Develop executive speeches, presentations and key messages for internal and external events, conferences, and meetings
Distill complicated, technical messages into consumer-friendly language, writing in a variety of voices, including persuasive informative and personal
Research current trends related to news, health care, politics, technology for application to writing projects
Adhere to applicable internal and external communications standards established for the business (e.g., style guides, communications industry standards, etc.)
Adapt writing style / tone to meet the needs of the specific message / audience / channel (e.g., nuance, complexity)
Obtain review of communications content by internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable requirements (e.g., Legal, Clinical, Compliance)
Monitor feedback on communications content and address questions / concerns as appropriate (e.g., follow-up)
Manage / maintain communications content using established communications standards / guidelines (e.g., review cycles, sunsetting / archiving processes)
Ensure work is original and within the rules, regulations, guidelines and other copyright laws
Embody and promote UHG corporate values and ethics, and demonstrate a passion for our mission
Exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment
Exemplary proofreading and editing skills
Excellent communication development skills, with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts in written materials, and an uncompromising eye for quality
Must be proficient in sourcing, drafting and securing approvals from various internal experts
Ability to influence and engage audiences using a variety of channels
Demonstrated ability to work with highly confidential information
