Job Specific Information:
This position will be a self-directed strategic thinker with excellent project management, relationship building, and communications skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. This position will report directly to the Manager of Global Citizenship and collaborate across OpCos with citizenship, human resources, communications and executives. The position will have direct responsibility for applying FedEx resources to relevant social problems, demonstrating impact on individuals/the community, and building our brand locally, nationally and internationally.
This position will develop and implement the company’s Employment Pathways strategy. The Employment Pathways Communications Advisor will be responsible for driving social and business impacts, including executing a strategic communications plan that supports the FedEx brand, reputation and business priorities.
TheCommunications Advisor will:
Have previous grantmaking experience and experience collaborating with large nonprofit organizations
Maintain a pipeline of strategic organizations and influencers to ensure our work/investments remain relevant and interesting
Be a thought leader on Employment Pathways and related issue areas (e.g., Opportunity Youth, skills gap, career training/access to employment, scholarships)
Identify strategic ways to communicate about Employment Pathways work; translating large amounts of information and impact data into compelling message points that build our brand and position FedEx as a good corporate citizen
Excel in oral and written communication, preferably with experience communicating about citizenship and speaking to large groups
Manage the Employment Pathways contributions budget
Be able to develop and maintain a cross-functional network of contacts and champions
Participate on the Enterprise Diversity Council
Work collaboratively across operating companies and regions in support of reputation goals

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in communications, journalism, marketing or related field required. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. Five (5) years of directly related experience required. Demonstrated experience in institutional or corporate communications with an emphasis on communication planning/analysis and exposure to print and non-print media strategies. Ability to study complex data and broad business strategy and convert into practical, creative and effective communications strategies. Proficient analytical, problem-solving, organization, creativity, grammar and writing skills. Strong, demonstrated human relations/relationship management skills.

Partnership Development: Identify and facilitate relationships with leading local, national and international nonprofit organizations through strategic grantmaking. Includes conducting research, benchmarking with other companies, issue area research and relationship development at multiple levels of the organization, including senior leadership. Maintain current relationships, grow those that are most promising and identify new relationships to further the Employment Pathways strategy and meet FedEx business goals. Exit relationships that no longer align with our strategy or offer meaningful community or business impact.
Strategy Design: Own the Employment Pathways strategy; ensuring the direction remains relevant to FedEx business goals and social needs in key geographies (national and international). Define target audiences, elements of a successful partnership, social goals and business goals, employee engagement opportunities and manage pipeline and related budget.
Measurement and Evaluation: Consistently evaluate effectiveness and impact of all nonprofit relationships. Establish and maintain measurement framework that supports overall focus area strategy. Analyze 6-month and 12-month grant reports; evolve/redirect relationships and programs based on findings. Leverage impacts for internal and external communications.
Business Communications: Consistently use knowledge of business strategy to create communications that directly impact business performance. Develop both written and verbal executive-level communications for internal and external audiences. Develops/Integrates comprehensive, overarching strategies, as well as targeted communications strategies to support the FedEx reputation.
Events and Operations Management: Plan and execute events with leading nonprofit organizations. Coordinate strategic recognition for FedEx during and related to the event. Facilitate employee and/or executive participation and speaking. Serve as day-of event manager and coordinate any giveaways, display materials and relationship with the nonprofit.
Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration Lead cross-functional team members in the coordination and execution of multiple programs; includes the ability to actively manage day-to-day responsibilities, make decisions and recommendations to management; track, evaluate and communicate progress to key stakeholders. Demonstrate strong understanding of business partner needs across operating companies, and understands FedEx structure and informal structures and utilizes network to achieve goals.
