The Bryn Mawr School is seeking a full time Assistant Director of Communications who will help build and implement communications strategies to advance the school’s goals and vision. This full time, 12-month position presents an opportunity for a dynamic, creative professional to play a central role in shaping the messaging for one of the leading independent schools in the area.
Working with the Director of Communications and Strategic Institutional Marketing, the Assistant Director will help shape and implement tactics to support our overall communication strategy - including digital content, social media, advertising, media relations, print and online publications, photography and videography, special projects, and event support. Qualified candidates must be a versatile team member, excellent writer, and creative thinker who can to tackle our wide variety of work from concept to execution.
Identify, create, and share compelling stories across all channels, including, but not limited to, website, social media, print and electronic publications and newsletters.
Oversee the school's social media presence by developing strategy and content.
Assist with managing www.brynmawrschool.org by writing web content, coordinating news gathering, posting and site updating, troubleshooting and overseeing electronic newsletter content and distribution.
Serve as the primary person responsible for covering and sharing on-campus events through writing, photography, and video.
Work closely with Admissions, Athletics, Development, and academic divisions to coordinate outreach efforts and interactions that inspire our community to tell others about their Bryn Mawr experiences.
Be a visible presence in the Bryn Mawr community, building strong relationships with faculty/staff, students, parents, alumnae, and friends that will facilitate the knowledge and exchange of information across the community.
Superior writing and editing skills; samples are requested.
Capacity to work across multiple communications platforms, including print, web, video and social media; strong computer skills, including with design/website software and content management systems.
Experience producing and strategizing social media content in a professional role.
Photography experience is necessary, videography/editing experience a plus.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, social media, writing or other relevant field. Previous work in an educational setting preferred.
