We are currently searching for a motivated Communications Manager - Issues and Brand Management for our Agricultural Products, North American (APN) Crop Protection Division in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
Communications Manager - Issues and Brand Management (1702240) – Research Triangle Park, NC
As Communications Manager - Issues and Brand Management, you will be responsible for positioning BASF as a trusted advisor to customers through proactive relationship management with industry and mainstream US, Canada and local media. You will develop an annual plan that reflects business priorities, and collaborate with the APN Agency of Record to develop a comprehensive strategic communications plan that includes annual media relations goals and strategies for the overall BASF brand in North American agriculture.
Formula for Success: You Will...
Collaborate with the regional marketing and global communications organizations to manage external messages related to sustainability, stewardship and company reputation throughout the region
Manage all communications strategy and planning related to the Living Acres BASF biodiversity program
Support local presence and positioning to develop the company brand as an employer of choice, specifically in the Research Triangle Region and within the US Agricultural Community, working with colleagues in Community Relations and Internal Communications to leverage all activities to support the brand
Serve as a liaison with North America Communications on issues related to the APN business and BASF reputation management
Supervise the deployment of a variety of communications tools/tactics including news releases, digital communications vehicles, media and promotional events
Supervise daily work of advertising and PR agency consultants in execution of communications plans per budgets
Manage communications spending and provide regular updates to all stakeholders on ROI and effectiveness of all tools and campaigns
The communications manager will report directly to the Manager, APN Communications & Industry Relations.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You...
BS/BA Degree in Communications, Journalism or Related Field
10+ years of strategic communications experience in a regulated industry
Experience executing integrated programs comprising public/media relations, writing and editing press materials, advertising, and other communications tools
Experience developing and executing communication plans with a focus on stewardship, sustainability and reputation management
Experience working and building relationships with diverse stakeholders to build and execute effective communications strategies
Willing and able to travel 25-40% of the time
Exceptional writing, editing and collaboration skills, with the ability to understand and simplify business and technical information under tight deadlines

Experience working with the media, including building relationships, developing media relations strategy, drafting messaging, news releases and related materials, securing and tracking coverage
Experience in senior executive communications, including thought leadership positioning
