Description: The candidate will be a key member of the Government Relations team, assisting with the formulation, development, and implementation of legislative agenda.
Primary Job Duties/Essential Functions and Responsibilities: •Assists SVP, Government Relations •Answers Government Relations’ phones and manages the SVP’s schedule •Provides research assistance to the Government Relations team, including covering congressional hearings and floor proceedings •Tracks key legislative activities for SVP and VPs •Prioritizes tasks and organizes and manages multiple projects while maintaining an understanding of legislative strategy and focus •Summarizes and reports on legislative issues as assigned •Attends industry and PAC events •Assists Government Relations staff members with tasks as assigned •Updates and maintains Congressional lists •Maintains chronological resource files and hearing files •Maintains online library of support materials •Conducts basic research for Congressional profiles and quarterly NCTA Board Books •Distributes materials •Submits expense reports •Interacts with Members of Congress and their staff on the phone on a daily basis and coordinates mailings to the Hill •Participates in cross-functional teams within NCTA
Qualifications & Experience: •College degree in related area plus two years work experience or comparable work experience •Excellent organizational skills •Ability to work independently with minimum supervision •Experience and/or familiarity with Capitol Hill and the cable industry are desirable •Good judgment and initiative •Proficient in use of Microsoft office products •Willingness to work overtime as needed •Exercise good judgment and discretion
