The newly formed Social and Media Neuroscience Lab in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Michigan State University is looking for a highly motivated research associate (postdoctoral researcher) to conduct fMRI studies on social reward processing and how it relates to social media use. Primary responsibilities will include designing and programming experiments, recruiting participants, analyzing behavioral and fMRI data, preparing conference presentations, and publishing research. This post is ideally suited for someone aiming for an independent research career with a focus on social, communication or decision neuroscience.
The initial appointment will be for 1 year, with opportunity for reappointment for an additional 1 year conditional on satisfactory performance. The anticipated start date is winter 2017/2018.
- Doctoral degree in psychology, neuroscience, communication, computer science, statistics, or related fields
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Experience analyzing neuroimaging data (with FSL, SPM, or similar platforms)
- Experience in programming (with MATLAB, Python, shellscripting or other languages)
