OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Senior Director of Community Relations and Marketing. This is a full-time 1.0 FTE 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Vice President for OSU-Cascades.
As a member of the OSU-Cascades’ Leadership Team, the Senior Director of Community Relations and Marketing will provide strategic and visionary leadership in support of OSU-Cascades by working to enhance the brand, reputation, public awareness and support of OSU-Cascades. The Senior Director conducts all activities with the highest integrity and business ethics while adhering to state, federal, and OSU policies and regulations. The Senior Director provides bold, integrated, and innovative leadership that reflects the importance of strong relations, a clear vision, and strategic communications. The Senior Director will lead a team and collaborate with others to advance the reputation of OSU-Cascades, and support donor relations, community relations, and student enrollment.
The Senior Director of Community Relations and Marketing reports to the Vice President of OSU-Cascades, and works in partnership with the OSU Vice President of University Relations and Marketing, who is responsible for university-wide marketing, communications and public affairs. This partnership includes engagement on strategy and execution to ensure alignment, and leverages the strength of Oregon State University. The Senior Director is a member of and works closely with the OSU-Cascades’ Leadership Team on all strategic goals for the campus.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Ore., is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,100 students in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, and opened its new campus in 2016. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 to 5,000 students by 2025. OSU-Cascades is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.
The anticipated start date is November 1, 2017.
-Master’s Degree and/or applicable professional experience in marketing, communications, and community relations, including increasingly complex responsibility in a leadership position.
-Demonstrated understanding of the strategic role of technology – including social media – in marketing, communications and community relations.
-Five or more years in budget management and staff supervision.
-Excellent written and oral skills.
-Demonstrated effectiveness in developing positive relationships with the community, media, and elected officials.
-Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
-Experience in conflict management, crisis communications, and restoring damaged reputations.
-Excellent computer skills in MS Office applications, database management and enterprise computing systems.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
