Health Research, Inc. (HRI) Roswell Park Division is seeking a full-time Communications Project Manager. The Communications Project Manager assumes a leadership role in strengthening & expanding Roswell Park’s communications efforts. This position focuses on internal communication by developing and implementing a comprehensive internal communication plan to include ongoing communications needs to support to the strategic goals & mission of Roswell Park. The Communications Project Manager creates content that ensures campus-wide awareness of new initiatives, programs, services, recruitment, operations and supports and contributes to all Marketing and Public Relations functions including media relations, publications, web content development, crisis communications, and special events. They will monitor, track & measure return on investment of communications strategies and activities by applying best practices.
This person will serve as managing editor and writer of employee communication tools with input from a cross-section of administration, faculty & staff as well as conducts periodic readership surveys. The Communications Project Manager crafts and disseminates additional communications pieces including but not limited to web and social media content, speeches and talking points, brochures and tip sheets, annual reports, scripts, signage, ads, town hall agenda/presentations, news releases, articles for publication, patient calendar, direct mail pieces, and explores and applies new social media and other communications technology and strategies tactics. This position supports and contributes to any specific marketing or communications project assigned by the Director of Marketing & Communications.
This position assists in organizing and promoting select annual events as well as suggests new opportunities for successful, cost-effective events, & represents Roswell Park at national exhibits & conference receptions.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time communications experience in corporate, agency or public relations or a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time communications experience in corporate, agency or public relations.
The preferred candidate would be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, photo/video editing software and other applications. They would have working knowledge and experience in applying evolving/emergent technologies (e.g. social media) to communications strategy and have strong writing and editing experience. This candidate would possess superior verbal and written communications skills, superior interpersonal and time management skills, demonstrated ability to develop communications strategies across corporate levels, experience writing and implementing successful communications plans, and the ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and follow through. This person would have a solid understanding of organizational communications, their impact and outcomes, the ability to distill complex language into audience-appropriate messaging and deftly synthesize information from a variety of sources, the ability to maintain discretion and manage confidential information.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
